I'm at class right now...and we're toying around with a version os SuSE 9. One of the kids brought in a version he downloaded from the net, that runs from the CD, and loads the OS into memory.

The Forums sure look a lot different surfin' e'm in Konqurer...

I tell ya though, it loaded right up, detected everything, and was a snap to get hooked up to the network here at school.

Me like.... Gonna have to play with this later on at home.... :D

Just wanted to post something on a different OS....

B.

That's awesome, Its like Toms (?) Linux on a floppy - that is perfect for trouble shooting and fixing things Windows has messed up.

Toms root boot is just a single recovery floppy. Suse's LiveEval is a more full featured OS.

There is Knoppix also. Knoppix boots off the cd, gives you lots of apps. It'll store prefs on a fat32 partition or a usb thumb drive if you want. If you want to take the plunge, you can install it to your hd right there.

Arkaine makes a variance of Knoppix named Overclockix that has the F@H client on it.

Another cd bootable linux that is nice is Geexbox. its great for playing media files when the system doesnt have a hard drive.
and the whole image is 5 megs burned onto cd, boots in a matter of seconds, and is powerful enough to play back a divx with 5.1 ac3 audio on an old P3 400 with only 64 megs of ram. It also plays back real media(.rm) and windows media (wmv/wma) as well as mp3's and quite a few others.
