I'm running a T-Bird with stepping code AVHA rated at 1.1ghz...The thing's unlocked and had been running for the past few months at 1233mhz without a problem...
The only thing is: this cpu has always seemed to run HOT--even playing with the fan/heatsink hasn't helped any-- got an Alpha PAL6035 w/ delta fan and Arctic Silver paste

motherboard says cpu is running at over 60C at full load, but I know that can't be right...I thought it may have been my pressure clamp not doing it's job, but I bent the thing back so it would hold tighter and still the same temps...I feel the heatsink and it barely feels over 105F
So, i've either got a bad connection between the heatsink and processor or my A7V133 is giving me some wickedly wrong temps...
Anybody have info or advice? thanks

Asus temperature probes are notorious for giving false readings. From what I have read both here and in other places, the probe gives a 10C higher reading than the actual CPU temp.

I'm hoping that's all it is...i figure with my HS/fan setup, I should be getting about 0.32C/W or lower...figuring on 60W from my cpu--an overestimate considering i'm running at stock voltage--I should only be getting 20C above motherboard ambient...

right now i'm getting like 30C above...or so it says...
evil motherboard

Try checking the temp in bios instead. The program asus probe showes 10c too much on most boards. atleast on mine a7v133

after a load, the bios shows about 56C and the probe is at over 62C

56C is still high...it shouldn't be nearly that high

Here's my comparison, and 2 cents worth!!
System: A7V133/Duron700 @840 Taisol Alum HSF w/26cfm fan.
LCD ribbon sensor at core = 41.7c
MBM5 = 48c core and 37c mainboard
*** Asus probe = 58c core & 37c mainboard,
this is version 2.14.01 and I believe it is the current one. Interesting that the mainbd temp is the same but the core is off by 10.
BTW, I am running the 1006 beta BIOS.

My 2 cents... the math or whatever Asus Probe is doing with the sensor data is all wrong. They had had this problem with the A7V too. I believe the correct temp is between the LCD and MBM5, so it's 45c
Room temp is about 83 degrees F, whatever that is in celcius...but it doesn't much matter.
I've seen the room temp change by 15 degrees and only see a 1 or 2 degree difference in the core.
Conclusion: Asus Probe isn't much use!!
