While most seem to think its possible the processor is getting better with burn in, it might be that the junction between the processor and the heatsink is getting better. This could be tested by someone who has seen there overclocking ability go up over time. If they did a complete HS reinstall carefully cleaning all the compound off, so it is as close the original placement of the HS as possible.
I don't think temp sensors would pick this up as they dont really monitor the core temos. Also, as an arguement, I might reference the article that was testing heatsinks based on their overclock ability.
Just a thought for someone who may have the time to test,

that may have something to do with it...everytime i take off my HS/fan, my temps seem to spike...

they're hot as it is though...

It takes a couple of days for the vibration of the fan to align and compact the particles in the thermal grease. The thermal interface does improve slightly but I don’t think this is behind the burn in phenomena. In my experience burn in takes two or three weeks.

If that were true than regular use would burn-in the processor just as well as heavy use of Seti, F@H, Sandra Burn-in Wizard, or whatever else your schemeing mind could think of.
