jus because you install some ddr400 doesn't mean your system will default to 400fsb. You will still need to set the fsb to the desired speed :D.
J.
To calculate your DDR speed at the 1:1 ratio, you need to multiply your FSB by 2. If you're running 233 FSB, then you're at DDR466 if you are using the 1:1 ratio. The other possibility is you're using a low memory ratio and low FSB speed. Post your BIOS settings, especially FSB and mem ratio.
ok, hopefully my sig works now. if not. here is what i got and what is in my bios
1700+ Palamino(150x11.5)
CPU Core 1.85v
DDR 2.6v
Chipset 1.6v
AGP Volts 1.5v
now when the comp boots up, it says 300MHz. so if i understand correctly, i would have to have my FSB set to 200MHz? also, how do i change the settings with the ram?
Ok, then it's right... 150 FSB X 2 = DDR300 since you have it set on the 1:1 ratio. To get DDR400 with that CPU speed, you'd need to change the memory ratio to 3:4 or run 200 FSB using the 1:1 ratio (which would actually be better, but you might need to unlock the multiplier if it won't go 11.5X200).
Or, you could unlock the multi, lower it, and run the FSB up to 200MHz. Running the memory fater than the FSB on AMD systems really doesn't do much of anything for performance, and can sometimes lower it. I used super glue and a conductive pen to unlock my XP1600+ pally. You could also leave the FSB at 150, and tighten the timings as tight as tey will go.
