How much farther do you think they will go??

Newegg.com has a Duron 750 for $29...what a steal !!!!

The cheapest OTHER brand they sell comes in at $152 for an 866Mhz.
Pricewatch shows a celly 366 for $37......hehe

Its good. Maybe if we show these prices ti Intel people they will convert. It only makes sense. Much lower prices for much better performance. Are they ignorant or just loyal?

its the principal of the thing- AMD and Intel are doing the opposite AMD sells lots for little profit, but intel sells say half as many but make 2x as much doing it- thats why then can keep doing it. As far as prices when the Palamino comes out i think that all of the older steppings- 1.33axia and below will drop quite a bit

I just ordered one of those cheap durons! I hope it gets here soon. I don't know if Intel sells half as many chips as AMD because Intel owns the oem market. I don't know any manufacturer that only uses AMD, yet the largest one only uses Intel if I'm not mistaken.

Intel owns about 75% of the PC market AMD about 23%. The rest is other.

Intel can afford to ask a premium for their CPU's as they are the clear market leader! Technology superiority has nothing to do with market leadership, ask Microsoft.

AMD's last quarter looked very bad financially, even when they gained marketshare. Intel's will also look bad. That was because of the price war between Intel (who started it to get P4 out the door) and AMD. AMD bearly made a profit and expects to make a loss next quarter.

This means that prices will be going up towards the end of the year, once current stock gets out the door.

Bottom line:
Intel and AMD (especially AMD) can't afford to keep selling CPU's at the current prices or they will go out of business.
