"Benchmarking..."

I have the graphicle client version 3.25. The reason why i like it is becuase I can pause it and it goes in my taskbar. But, sometimes when i turn on my computer and it starts up it just starts folding, but sometimes it says its benchmarking. And its up really high on the procceses list in my taskmanager, so my system is bassically useless becuase all the cpu usage is being taken up by this benchmarking. I set it to only 95% cpu usage and core priority low. That didnt help much. Does anyone else have this problem?

It benchmarks at the start of a unit (and maybe when you restart the client?). This isn't anything to worry about, it only lasts a few seconds.

Unless, like what happened on one of my machines, the benchmark gets hung up and never completes. I finally gave up on that box and run the linux client now.

well it goes for about 10 mins. And its soo laggy i cant do anything, in liveforspeed, i dont even think i got 1 frame per second. Anyways, i used to have the console one and it only took a couple seconds. Should i try reinstalling this client when my WU completes?

oh and one more thing, the protein that it shows, it that just for show or is that the actual protein im folding?

I think they show the actual protein. I've always used the console client. You don't need to wait for it to complete if you don't want to.

My benchmarking thing ont he Console version only takes max 3 seconds, never foudn it to be a problem myself

yeah. i think mine got stuck.

I ended the process in the task manager and then restarted it and it worked fine. So, i finished the WU, and its in the middle of sending it in, and halfway through, my connection to the internet died. When i get home tonight and connect to the internet and start up the folding client, it should finish right? Or did i lose the WU?

I would imagine It will jut resend it from the beginning.
