Does the K7D have pins on mobo to connect to front case. I just bought a camcorder and realized I needed a firewire I have a port in front of my Chieftec case but where do I connect the cables onto the mobo?

No firewire on the K7D sorry. You will need to buy a pci firewire card.

While you're at it get the combo USB2+1394firewire PCI card and save an extra slot for a future 32/33 card. Newegg has 'em for less than $50.

Just make sure it has an internal ieee1394 connector so you can connect your front case ports. (like the one audioaficionado linked to)

I have one of those in a K7D system and it has worked great, for me.

looking at the pic of the second unit that audioaficionado posted, do you think that the ide cable would be a bottleneck?

As a nice paralle port, it shouldn't be any more of a bottleneck that an equal number of individual cable wires for all the devices.

I went ahead and bought that combo unit in the middle (Koutech F7002b) and it turned out the damn thing's USB wouldn't work. I tried all sorts of different things for about 2hrs and finally gave up, so I'm gonna RMA. Do you lose 15% restock on faulty items? What if I tell 'em I'll take "store credit"?

Did the supplied drivers install OK?

Are there any newer ones on line? Online support?

Is this on a K7D & XPsp1 or w2ksp4?

Just ask them to refund you the full amount. They'll do it.

Audioaficionado, I tried the drivers on the cd (which appear to be a newer version that the website), the website, and MS default drivers. My OS is XP SP1.

cmcquistion, thanx but do you think I'd have better odds in calling them or using the online RMA request thingy?

Their online system is good. Only some items on their website are billed as having a restock fee. If that item isn't one of them, then they won't charge you a restock fee. If it is, then call them and request the RMA for the full amount. Every time I have requested to not pay the restock fee, they have waived it. I don't bother, though, unless I process an online RMA, first, and see if it is going to charge me 15%.
