memtest question

I ran memtest-86 v2.9 on a system that is having stability problems and it craps out and freezes at 50% within the first series of tests.

I do the test again on another system with that same stick of ram and it runs fine(pass) first series of test. 1-7

Is it safe to assume that the ram isnt the problem in my first unstable system?

Did you try it on stock settings?

Its self extracted on a disk and I booted the disk up in systems and tested. I didnt notice any options to define.

The second system... I am still testing it. It has gone almost an hour without errors. The first system crashed within 15minutes of the test. Not an error, it crashed it gave abunch of hex code in the bottom right of screen and froze.

Errr. after and hour I got 4 memory errors at the same time. TEST 4 PASS 4.
Does that mean my ram is cooked?

It could be. Switch to 'all tests' instead of the default ones it normally runs.

edit: you might want to get the latest version of memtest86 (3.0).
