I have an AMD Thunderbird 1.2Ghz running at 1.34 (10x133). The CPU temp at idle is around 47C on load around 53C. I'm getting these temps from the Bios and from MBM. I feel this is too hot and need to lower it. I have an intake fan lower front and flowing out through the back under the power supply fan. If i run my hand over the back, the power supply fan is sucking out much stronger than the fan i fitted. Should i change to a more powerful fan and what about the HSF, should i replace it?
Thanks.

While CoolerMaster HSFs are not very highly regarded, if the air coming out your PSU fan is stronger than the case fan, that is a strong indicator that you should consider better case fans. I use the plural because you want both the intake and exhause to be equally powerful, since they effect each other. See what that accomplishes and when the dust settles, do consider a step up on the HSF.

Ya it cant hurt- do you know the specs of your fan like the rate cfm and the db it runs at also the rpms' that would help with the new fan specs. What size is it 60mm? 80mm? 90mm?

Both intake and exhaust are the same, 80mm. Not sure what speeds they run at but i think they cost $15 for the two new.

Make sure you check the dust in all your fans, and in your heatsink. Check your HSF and make sure its secure. Shut down and lightly wiggle the hsf and see if it moves. Don't do this while on because you could fry your chip.
You may want to cut some holes and mount some fans on the side of your case 1 directly above your HSF so it gets fresh air and one at the bottom of the case to release the air. also a big fan in the top of your case really helps. ie....80mm-120mm.
When I cleaned my HSF my temps droped from 38C idle and 51C load to 30C idle and 42 Load.
I have the Hedge Hog with Delta 38 CFM.

I slapped on a slot-cooler in my empty PCI slot right underneath my Video card. It's pretty quiet and you can feel a lot of air being blown out by it. Give it a try, it's around $15-$20. I think I got mine from www.coolerguys.com.

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure dust is no problem, it's a totally new machine, 1 week old. I'll check the HSF though. Will that PCI cooler make any significant difference?

Thanks.
