Here is a picture of a 1.2 ghz thunderbird. They hide the code and say warranty is void if you remove the sticker. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1255315607
How do I show tthe pic w/o having you click on the link?
what are you talking about?

Actually the code is on the die-not the ceramic. No it's not covered up. O well we all make mistakes-that one is kinda funny though

Oh okay. I thought that was were the code was. My mistake. I have never had a thunderbird so I wasn't sure

We don't like flaming here especially when it wasn't called for. There was an article about flaming a while back on the front page, if you can find it read it.

Usually that kind of sticker is just the reseller trying to make sure he only has to replace the back hardware he sold. Mine came without any stickers at all.

Correct me if im wrong but isnt that sticker lying over the either the 5-8 bridges or the 1-4 bridges. This probably means that it is a retail cpu and the retailers dont want anyone unlocking voltages or multipliers etc.
And flaming ppl gets nowhere here. Everyone should treat everyone else with respect. These forums are here to help people with overclocking and hardware problems, lets keep it that way.
Pitspawn, I did a doubletake because your graphic looks like "PitSpawk" due to the bending of the letters. Gave me a good giggle. Sorry. I kept thinking, "What's a Pitspawk?"

Thanks for the info people. At least now I know. :)
Hey, no flaming!. :) I have a bunch of those stickers. I put them on the Post Its with the CPU codes that are stuck on my monitors before I lap the dang codes off the CPU dies.

That's a good idea.
Sorry, multiple post, I need a new mouse.
O-K. Back to the original post.
The sticker is covering the "L5, L6 & L7" bridges, the L7's control the voltage. Being that most motherboards support voltage increases in the BIOS there really isn't any advantage to covering these particular ones. Maybe an error on the resellers part and they meant to cover the L1's?
As far as the codes, look at the following attatchment;
