I'm going to the computer show this weekend, and I'm destined for a TBird.... probably either a 1 GHz or a 1.2 GHz.

Should I try to find a straight up AXIA or go with one of the new AXIAR's? The AXIAR's seem to be doing rather well in the cpu database.

On a side note, I'd like to have a 1 GHz chip, since the overclock I will be able to achieve will probably be similar to higher speed rating chips, and I'll pay less for the chip.

Hmmm...good one. The 1.2 will probably clock a little bit higher, but the 1.0 could save you a couple of bucks. From what I've seen in real-life experience from my brothers' and friends' machine, their 1.0s hit 1366 and 1400 with 1.85vcore. 1.2s look to fare a little better on average in the database, so they look like a good option. However, the R code I'm not sure about. I've seen 1.0 Rs, but not a 1.2 yet. Apparently, for 1.2 TBirds, the 'Y' seems to be the hot thing as of late...may wanna check one of those out, too. Let us know either way! I'm looking for an upgrade within a month or so myself, and I'd like to know how the faster-clocked Athlons fare.

Good luck!

AXIA and AVIA with y on the 3rd line are the ones to get for the 1 giggers. In the database here the 1gigs actually do better than the 1.2's. If you still can find one, the 1 gig AVIA-y's have been doing 1450-1500 with proper cooling. Look at sig for my favorite AVIA. I got lucky on this one!!
