Battlefield 1942 patch 1.5 help

I'm having a problem with the latest 1.5 patch.

I legitly own both BF42 and the road to rome expansion, and these are the original CDs, not some warez. For some reason, after I patch to 1.5, I cant even start the game. I get an error message saying to insert correct CD and restart.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and made sure I could play it without patching at all. I'm not even worried about the road to rome expansion right now because I just want to play DC.5.

If anyone knows wtf is up with this, please help. I'm patching using the full 1.5, not the 1.45->1.5 upgrade. Game works fine without the patch, so I know the CD isnt scratched or anything, as soon as I patch, I cant even run it.

Can't wait to play the new DC mod... grrr...

Which CD are you using when you get the error?

Also the first time I installed it before uninstalling/reinstalling, I had installed the road to rome expansion. I got the error using that disc too. This is really really annoying :(

don't install the expansions... just do vanilla BF and see how far you get before you get the error

Yea, thats what I tried last. I wiped all of my BF1942 files, uninstalling everything. Then I just installed the original, and tried playing it. It worked. Then I installed patch 1.5. It stopped working :(

Now I'm getting really ****ed off...

5 uninstall/reinstalls later, and this time I've tried patching the game to version 1.45. Same exact problem. The game works flawlessly without patching at all though.

Couldnt find any patches lower than 1.45, and I wouldnt want to use them anyway.

Has anyone ever had a problem like this or have any ideas how to fix it? I'm about to break the CDs in half :(
