View Full Version : HELP I'M ABOUT TO KILL MY COMPUTER~~!!
This has been going on a lot for about a week now. My computer keeps locking up. I don't think it has anything to do with Windows because once it freezes, the only thing i can do is hit the restart button. It will freeze if I'm playing a game or just reading this forum. It also happens a lot when I'm watching movies. Does anyone know how to fix this? Could it be my video card?
Oh i forgot to say that it couldn't have anything to do with the temps because they are good.
have you looked at the thread which is recent called 'freezing paradise':

very similar problem....its his soundcard giving him problems....take a look at the thread...coudlbe similar...maybe not.
you running via 4 in 1's? i would try the 4.28 and see if the problem goes away also go to w2k too.

i know when i had lock up problems even W2k would help...i just updated ALL my drivers and then went to FAIL SAFE in my BIOS and THEN only THEN did i gradually change it to how i wanted my bios...rebooting and testing after EVERY change to see if that would lock me up...
2 months since a lock up compared to about every 12 minutes ( i tweaked my bios 2 months ago )

Unfortunately its very hard to diagnose a problem like yours without problem solving what is causing the freezing. You should write up a list of possible causes and go through each one systematically to remove it for a possible cause.
Once you have completed your list then you should have found the solution. If not, then giving us this information almost guarrentees us to finding your problem.
A detailed look on what increases the rate of freezing, eg playing movies or running IE would help find out what the problem is.
From the sounds of it, if your getting general freezes even when idle then its not your...
Graphics Card
Processor
And its unlikely to be your...
Soundcard (Not in use)
Drivers (Once again not in use at idle)
So I think its probably your mobo. Check your northbridge chipset. It maybe overheating. Extra ventilation or a BLORB could help you.
u gad exact same problem with my sonic impact aureal card. Just randomely freezed no matter what i did. all those problems got solved after i changed to sblive
I just put a fan on my northbridge so I dont think it could be that. Thanks
