My gosh.... I can't wait for the computer show this weekend. A 1 GHz 266 FSB TBird for $80!!! (plus shipping). I bet I can land one at the show for under a hundred. Unbelievable. I wish HDD prices would drop that fast. AXIA-land, here I come!!!

And the sad thing a faster hard drive is MUCH more noticeable than a faster cpu IMO. I still use a 8mb video card that doesn't even support DirectX at all. OH well, maybe I'll pick up a new vid card this weekend.
I've been waiting for the right incentive to get a 1.2/266. Don't it figure that the 1.2/266 was the only one that did not fall. :o

why not just spend 135 and get the 1.333 thats already unlocked , i mean from 1 gighertz to 1.4 are all the same anyway

I disagree slightly. While the cores may be from the same FAB process, from what I have read, The 1.2 and 1.33 overclock at lower core voltages. My modest 1.0G/266 AXIA will run 1524 at 2.05 as long as I maintain an acceptable temperature. While this is from anecdotal information I have gathered from reading posts, I'll cite an example of a 1.2 running 1540 at 1.85V or a 1.33 running 1500 at 1.80V, while my 1.0 takes 1.975V to achive the same thing. I would like to get a CPU that will OC at lower core voltages. That's all. The reason I don't say WTH, I'll plop down the money, is because I have a CPU that does 1524 stable. It just takes a lot of power and cooling to do it. It's like that when I have a little disposable jingle in my pocket. I'll accept even a modest reason for spending it. ;D
For the same money, perhaps I'll get that Antec SX-830 tower instead. The problem is, I already have the Antec 400W PSU, but they won't sell just the tower, without the PSU. Anyone want to buy the 300W Antec PSU, to defray my cost? There I go again, looking for any good reason to spend my money. Don't recommend other towers. The SX is what I want.

I'd be interested in that PSU.... how much would you want for it? And are you going to the show down at the state fairgrounds this weekend? I think I'm going on Friday to look for my new CPU and HDD.

Honestly, wait one more week. Intel is dropping their prices, and AMD's pricing is based upon Intel's. But, I'm not sure of the impact it is going to have, because Intel's price drop is primarily on their mobile line of processors.

I went to one of those at Canterbury Park and was unimpressed. I assume it was the same production outfit. However, your question caught me quite by surprise. No billboards out west of town mentioning it. Ooh, now that money is really burning a hole in my pocket! ;D

I almost forgot. The Antec PP-303 goes for $50.00, including shipping, on pricewatch. Since you're a local, you can have it for $40.00. I'll meet you halfway, somewhere around town to pass it off. If they have the SX-830, at a reasonable price, at the Computer Show this weekend, I'll bring a screwdriver and pass along the PSU right there. What time you thinking about going there on Friday? Saturday would be better for me.
