YEAH! I finally overclocked my t-bird 1ghz to 1.33 ghz (10 x 133). I might even go to 1400, but there is this usse of heat, on load, my 1.33ghz t-bird goes to 53degrees Celcius...is that too hot? If it iss, then ill stay here. Did i mention that my retail box amd t-bird 1ghz was luckily enough an AXIA "Y", i mean...what r the chances in that happening? Anyways..l8z

Well if the 53c is at full load that isn't to bad. Since it is a retail chip are you using the retail heatsink? If you are then switching to something like an SK-6 will drop your temps and get you up to 1400-1500 with any luck.

Well, right now, im using a GloabalWinFop 38 HSF, the one that came with teh CPU was ridiculously inefficient. In otehr words, IT STANK! So 53is alright? Hmm, then 1400 here i come! lol

no, 53c is hot, you may get unstable.

are you using AS2 or does the GloabalWinFop 38 come with one of those cool pink pads?

The store i buy stuff from ran out of AS2, so i went to RadioShack and bought the Heatsink compound, the store clerk referred to it as "overclocking grease" lol. The heatsink compund seems to work very well, it kept my 1ghz t-bird at 46degrees Celcius.

i don't think for that overclock that your temps are bad

did you lap the HSF?

i did and my temps dropped 3C...that was a nice drop

i was able to get my 1gig tbird up to 1442 52c under load. . .i thought it was stable, then whole bunch of crazy crap started happening after a week. so i took it down a little bit. i think the fact that i'm running win98 1st edition has something do with a lot of the nishaps. .. reinstalling with 2nd editon in a couple days. ..

also, i used as2 and the vantec hsf(its not the new copper one)

Please give me details on your chip, I have been wanting to find out if there is anybody else that has such a high default voltage. Mine is also 1.87. A hot little sucker.

Shesh, my AXIA/Y 1ghz 266fsb runs all the live long day at 1470 at as high as 58C, most of the time its low 50s but on warm days with the A/C off it gets up to 58 or so...I'm using the FOP38

When i get my t-bird to 1470 or higher, before windows 200 screen loads, it said dick-boot error, ctlr+alt+del to restart. But when i took it down to 1400 it was alright.

Sand it down with the highest numbered sandpaper you can find to make it mirror smooth. This will take any imperfections away from the H/S. It could gain you 2-4c. You can use A/S-2 as a final polishing compound if you so desire.
