Would there be enough room for an extra fan in my computer? Like a main fan? If so would it be wise to buy an extra? Would it make a large difference?

What does the heatsink do exactly? And what relation does it have with the fan?

What is the highest temperature that your computer should run at, mobo and processor?

And finally... How fast should a fan be spinning to be very effective?

uh... you'll have to be more specific about the fan and your system for us to tell you whether you need an extra fan in there or not.

for example, what kind of temperatures do you have for your CPU and case/system?

if you already have good case air flow, then there's no choice adding one more fan, but if you don't have any case air flow, then adding one fan would make quite a difference.

the heatsink spreads the concentrated heat from something hot and dissipates it to the environment with its large surface area.

the most obvious heatsink inside a computer is the CPU heatsink, which is most of the time actively cooled using a fan. The CPU makes a lot of heat (roughly like a 70w light bulb), in that small surface area of the CPU, the heatsink conducts the heat away, and the fan blows air on the heatsink to help dissipate the heat to the air.

more airflow => more cooling.
better heatsink design => more cooling.

Im not sure what kind of fan I have, its an Intel of some kind... But my temps for my cpu can get up to 50 degrees celcius somtimes under a good load. Im not sure what you mean by airflow though.... But if you mean air going in and out through the back of the case, then heres a pic of my computer case.
