To my fellows nvida card owners. Currently, I owned a TI4200 128MB graphic card. I am thinking about upgrading my card to either a ATI Radeon 9800 non-pro, or the FX5900. The ATI 9800 cost around $250 and the Ledtek 5900 cost $205. Obiviously, the $45 does make a hugh difference because its close to 20% difference in cost. I am leaning towards the 5900 of course. But Nvidia had been having problems running directx 9 games. I dont want to spend $200 on something that will make me ****ed off when I play directx 9 games.

Now for the question, does the latest Nvidia driver 52.16 solved that problem? And is it worth the money to spend on the LedTek 5900?

Please, dont take it the wrong way. I don't want bias opinion from hugh "only ATI" fans or "only Nvidia" fans. $200 is a lot of money for me to spend and I just want to get it right the first time. To the experts on video cards, please advice.

get the radeon 9800. I made the same purchase ($265 - $100 rebate) for a fx 5900, and everyone is telling me I should have bought a Radeon 9800. And they tell me this because the Radeon 9800 is much much better looking, produces much higher scoring results on DirectX 9.0 games. And if you're making a $200+ investment, might as well get something that's gonna last you right? True DirectX 9.0 is a must if you want something to last ya.

I'd say wait it out till black friday. Hopefully we'll see better deals than $205 and $245 then. Keep us posted on what you decide to do.

Obviously, I had gone with the FX5900. Its less than $180 after mail in rebate. Which is still slightly more expensive than yours. But I had heard the latest 52.16 drivers performs better now. Its more optimize for directx 9 game play now.

By the way, the Radeon 9800 cost close to $250, that is if you can find one. Its $70 more expensive.

The Leadtek 5900's that I've seen for $200 aprox. are all the "LX" model with slower ram. Just something to be aware of.
