Hi guys,
Ive just got me a shiny new copper Thermalright hsf. I ave a AXIA y 1gh chip on a KT7A mobo. The problem is that i cant get my machine to run properly at anything over 1.320 gh. I have set the Bios as follows:
Mulitplyer 12
cpu fsb/pci 110
fsb 0
With the default power settings. I have got the chip to run at 1.4gh but as soon as windows begins to load the system freezes, anyone got any ideas????

Is there a jumper or something like that to run it at 133mhz fsb (actually 266)?

Many OCers prefer to "burn in" a cpu. That is, keep the CPU at its default speed, but crank up the voltage about 15%. Supposedly this has the effect of simulating a "break-in period." Many are skeptical as to whether or not this works (I feel it can be effective), but hey, as long as you have a good cooler (I'm not familiar with ThermalRights), why not? Your Abit mobo has the vcore options in the BIOS menu, which I'm sure you're familiar with.
Also, why have you chosen to go with such a high multiplier/low FSB combination? If you're only running PC100 memory, that could be your problem, too. Otherwise, you may as well make the most out of your 1320 MHz and crank up that bus speed while lowering the multiplier - try 10 multiplier and the default 133 FSB speed. This makes worlds of difference as far as performance goes....
Otherwise, the freeze during boot at 1400 is the classic example of the CPU saying "I can't go any faster! Help me!"

What is your C/V set at? turn it up to 1.85 and see from there, oh yah and watch the temps :-)
Is the HSF the SK6? If so it's a good one. I have it on my birdy.
Good Luck !!
you will have to go with a 133 fsb! why aren't you doing this is it your ram? I would try 10x133 and then 10.5 and then up the fsb.

Ive had another play with things and have lowered the mulitplyer to 10, upped the FSB/PCI is set to 130/32, the core v is set at 1.775. All seems ok at the moment and the system seems stable. I have tried to up the FSB/PCI but anything over 130/32 and it locks up just before windows finishes loading. Is 1.350gh a good speed for a 1gh AXIA Y???
Thanks for your help guys..

Give her a couple weeks. My bro has 1.0 Athlon TChicken. When he started, max stable boot was 1366. After a couple days or running Sandra Burn-In and playing Quake III, he could get it to 1400 stably. This is, of course, at 1.85v, so heat becomes an issue above this. It will run a half-cooked attempt at 1466, but crashes within a few hours. 1.35 isn't really too bad - it's a 35% increase in core speed, and you could hardly complain about that - my old TBird only got about 25%, so keep it up - seems you're definitely headed in the right direction!
