All excited I got home last night with my brand new 1.2 AXIA R & Alpha PAL Heatsink.
Elatedly I threw it all on. Set it up........ and no post. Tried again.
Finnally a post at 1350. Checked the BIOS, checked Temp... 69c!!!!
I don't think I've ever dived for the off switch so fast.... but I did.
I checked everything.... SEEMED fine.
Booted again, seemed good. Didn't check the temps again (DOH!). Started to boot, and suddenly the 120mm sunon in my case started to speed up. Thinking no load and... oH ****! I hit the off button.... but too late. A funny smell akin to that of a blown Capacitor (you electronics geeks know what i mean). Bye Bye Tbird.
The Alpha wasn't seated properly.
I don't know how or why. But it wasn't sitting correctly on the core.
I had no shim, didn't touch the clip, and was popped on correctly.
Any ideas?
