I forgot my windows xp password and I heard that you can insert a dos disk and change the admin password. could someone tell me is this is true. and if it is how do you do it?

you heard it WRONG
if you search this forum, you will find the answer you are looking for because i HELPED somebody in your situation before
to make it short, you can reset it by having ERD 2003. It costs you money
