Ok, I have been reading about all of the different versions of T-birds out there and I have come to one conclusion, I am as confused as when I started. I keep reading about who recommends what, what is better for overclocking, what runs cooler, and it seems that every version has these qualities when you take everyones opinion about them and put them together. Here is my setup:

Epox 8K7A w/o RAID
256 megs Crucial PC2100
GeForce2 GTS 32 MB
Maxtor 30gig 7200 RPM

Now, I think I have a pretty good setup going so far. It took me a while but I finally decided on the Epox. All I have now is to get the CPU. I have a Hedgehog HSF and I love it to death. It is quiet and it has performs great. I have thought about a 1.2Ghz., 1.4Ghz, and 1Ghz. but I can't seem to get the AXIA, AHJHA, etc. thing straight. Please don't tell me to go searching through the forum cause I have been doing that for 3 days now and I am getting nowhere. I want a good overclocker that run reasonably cool and can take high fsb. Also, tell me where I can find one from a respectable company. I have searched for places but they never seem to include in the description what version it is. I will be getting my mobo and tower early next week so I would like to have the CPU soon after that. Please help if you can. Thx

1 of 2 choices
1. Athlon 1200 $100 most likely an AXIA tiny bit more overclockable
2. Athlon 1400 $170 an AYJHA runs a little cooler
I think price is the bigger concern here. Are you willing to pay the $70 more and achieve about the same overclock? On the other hand the $70 assures you of 1400mhz at stock voltage.

Bender is correct but everyone still can get1.400 out of the 1.2 so it is your call. You have a top of the line so I believe your goals are 9x175 or something like that at good temps if this is the case then go for the 1.4 as it will handle it and others like andy c have done it. btw you will need good ddr to go higher!

With good cooling (CAK38, Fop39, WBK38, Glaciator ect.) you would be able to get 1.4 or higher with a 1GHz AXIA chip. And that will REALLY cut the cost down.
