The average DURON 700 overclock is about 950.

The A7V is one of the first generation socket A motherboards, therefore it has the VIA KT133 chipset. This chipset was introduced before the release of the 266FSB chips and does not officially support it. Most of the motherboards with that chipset max out at between 107 and 110MHz. When the "C" code CPU's were introduced, they were reworked to run at the higher FSB speeds and renamed "KT133A".
On a positive note, I've got one of those early A7V's and have a DURON 600 @ 1100MHz on it now. Make sure that you have good cooling and you will probably have to bump the core voltage to the boards max of 1.85.

Another thing, the ASUS Probe monitoring program bundled with that motherboard is known to return inaccurate readings, reported to be as much as 10c higher than actual, my experience has shown similar results. I think that if you keep the "reported" temperatures below 60c, you should be alright.

Now, if you actually have an ASUS A7V133 motherboard, that's another story.

Good Luck!

Research, the key to a successful overclocking experience!

check the rev version on the board before u decide anything

it's the number under one of the pci slots(cant remember which)

the earlier ones cant do a high fsb but my rev 1.05 can do 133 fsb +
that's like impossible for a kt133 chip as i heard all the ppl tlk abt it
but serious it works....as i m using it now

7 X 138fsb = 960mhz.......i cant put the sys back up to the speed in my sig b/c the summer heat makes it screw up.....maybe it's also b/c i chipped one of the corners......strange thing is that it still works

ok, about overclocking the chip

we neeed more detailed information about your comp so we can help u better(vid card, sound card, psu, hs/f....also what temps you have, idle--load)

but generally if u want to overclock the chip u should unlock it by doin the pencil trick (drawing a line over the 4 L1 bridges on the cpu) there should be a link for this somewhere in the front page

after you unlocked it up the fsb and when the comp crash(BSOD) or doesnt boot up then u have hit the top for fsb..start changing the multiplier to higher and see again when the comp crash or doesnt boot up

when u get to the part where the comp doesnt boot then u should clear the cmos by shorting two pins next to the battery, i personally wont do this since the original settings are restored if u pull out the cpu and plug it back in

hope this helps
