the slots dont line with my nf7-s and unless i use a saw and cut a groove out of my mobo its isnt gonna go in.
card was sold as an agp,and says agp on the pcb.

is there something im missing here?

I'm sorry but you cannot use that card with an 8x agp motherboard. Agp 3.0 or 8x cannot support a agp 2x card because 2x cards run at 3.3v while 4x run at 1.5 and 8x runs at .8v. As for the L shaped tab on end of the connector that is for an agp lock mechanism.

You should be able to use it. I have a Voodoo 5 5500 AGP and it fits in my 4x motherboard just fine. 8x AGP is backwards compatible I do believe with 4x/2x/1x or it should be it has nothing to do with the voltages. The voltages are the same with all of them it's the bandwidth that is different.

AGP 1 and 2x are 3.3V, AGP 4x is 1.5v, and AGP 8x is .8v.

Ok I stand corrected but it still should be backwards compatible.

No, sir. :) A Voodoo series card will not fit in an AGP 8x slot. They will fit in 4x slots, however.

I dont quiet understand this, AGP 8x is sopposed to be backwards compatabl..............ah heck I dont queit get it, but it should work.

AN AGP 8x slot is backwards compatible to 4x but not 2x and 1x
Most AGP 4x slots are backward compatible to AGP 2x and 1x

Don't feel bad, suprised the sh*t out me too. I tried to put my old KyroII into my new NF2 board - it fit but the board wouldn't work w/ the 3.3v card (that's how I ended up with an emergency GF4MX card - lol).

Suprised me too, dude.
I had a 5500 with my kt7 board, and when i got the 8rda+, it wouldn't even go in. Theres an extra guide/alignment at the back of the slot which wont allow a 2x/1x board in, but 4x/8x will still work.
Thats where the MX420 came from (emergency video cards are usually always better than the old rage ii pci cards on the shelf)

Well, it's not as annoying as having a Matrox G400 with the 4x indentation on the card, but due to it being a revision 1.0 card, not 4x capable, and therefore not compatible with 4x/8x motherboards. :p
