v-data pc2700 with right chip (hard to find) can do over 240mhz 2-2-2-5
muskin pc2700 level 2 seems to use Winbond BH5
kingston pc2700 with DW chip use winbond BH6 (very good)
newer a-data pc2700 version (only taiwan for now) use winbond bh5
Corsair XMS 2700 is a good overclocker too ;)

Thanks ill start searching.
But about what Steven4563 can my 845GE board really have say pc3500??
Also you say it can do 240 "with right chip" what exactly do u mean by this? :D :)
I need mem that rill run 2-2-2-5 too.
But - it has to run it @ 333, probably a lil more. I don't have too much cash and ram is expensive at my place.
I was thinking about getting Twinmos PC 3200 and declocking it to PC2700, as now I can run max 333 mhz. Will it run at this speed?
maybe it will help:
ASUS A7V333 mobo
old Athlon XP 1800+
wanting to run mem 5:4 to CPU
Almost all mobos will "unofficially" support faster RAM. The reason your specs and manual only say PC2700 is because that was the fastest at the time the released the mobo, so that was all they tested it for. My Abit IC7 says it supports up to PC3200, but I've had both PC3500 and PC4000 RAM in it.
If you want cheap and fast RAM that overclocks good with tight timings, look at Kingston HyperX PC3000 or PC3200 (non-"A"). This is rated 2,2,2,5 I think and should have the highly desirable BH-5 chips.
Yes, PC3200 RAM will run just fine at PC2700 speeds. I recommend getting better RAM than you actually need so you can migrate it to a new system once you upgrade.
The problem is that I can hardly buy such ram (not USA) :(
I asked today - only 3200A which is crap or 3700, but I heard that this one runs high mhz, but can't go nice timings on lower mhz, btw - the cheapest I found are around hmm $173/stick (hyperx 3700) and some told me that maybe they will have 3200 non-A for around $165 - this is ghetto
I found Twinmos 3200 512 stick for around $110, but it's rated CL2.5 at 400mhz. I heard that it can go 2-2-2-5 over 400, but what I heard and what is in real can differ soo much. My mobo can't handle high mem speed, so I definietly need 2-2-2-5 and I can't buy "bad stick" cause it could cost me too much.
-edit-
HALP - I'm starving with 256 megs running 2.5-3-3-6 and they cannot go any better and they are 2x not enough :(
(typos too)

wow batboy u have made my day :D:D
so some pc3500 "should" work then!! :D
Venom, Twinmos is good RAM and if you get PC3200, but only run it at DDR333, then you should have no trouble using 2,2,2,5 timings. Most RAM will do tighter timings than spec when you are running it slower than what it's rated for.
BBE, yes PC3500 "should" work, but beware, not all PC3500 RAM will run super tight timings. Your best bet right now is RAM with the BH-5 chips. These "might" include (I can't guarantee it) Kingston HyperX PC3000, PC3200 (non-"A"), and possibly PC3500, Mushkin PC3500 Black Level 2, and OCZ PC3500 Platinium Edition. Buffalo PC3200 and PC3700 is hit and miss right now for getting BH-5 chips on their modules.
BIG thx, batboy :)
Now I need to make seller sell me ram to test it with possibility of return, what isn't so obvious here :/
In other case - I'll just try to find some family in US who'll get & send me BH-5 stick :)

hehe lots of info there batboy :D!!! which do u think is my best bet?
Mushkin used to guarantee BH-5 on some sticks like level 2 3500, but they are uber-expensive. Check Mushkin site.

ok cheers :D
If I were to chose some PC3500 right now, I would get either Mushkin PC3500 Black Level 2, and OCZ PC3500 Platinium Edition. Which one is better? It's a toss up, can't go wrong with either.
I currently have some OCZ PC3500 EL (it's copper not the platinium) and I'm quite happy with it.
I have some Kingston HyperX PC3000 on the way right now. Should have it by Monday at the latest. I plan on posting my results on how it does after I test it out on a couple different systems.

Great maybe ill wait till then coz i dont have to get this ram for about 2 weeks.
But im probly gonna get some Mushkin PC3500 Black Level 2 ;) and hoep that it works....it does say on there site that you have a 2 week "test" period, duno how full proof that is though.
thanks
