Hey all, I need some input. A couple of weeks ago I rma'd a retail, boxed, 2500+ barton, with stepping AQXEA 0331. It wasn't a particularly good overclocker for me as the best I could do stable was 10x 200. I realize that with overclocking it is a crap shoot. AMD sent me an e-mail stating they were sending me a 2600+ as a replacement. I received my replacement yesterday and discovered it is a t'bred 2600+ with 256k cache and 333 fsb. I contacted amd and they said the reason I got the 2600+ was because they are out of the 2500+ bartons at this time. So what would you guys do? Keep the 2600+ and be happy or insist on a 2500+ barton? With all the stories going around about the new bartons being locked, I'm wondering if I should keep what I have. Any comments?

Depends on stepping really I think. The 2600+ will be at 2.13GHz, probably got a few hundred MHz headroom, 2.5Ghz at most. 2600+ is getting kinda close to the limit for Tbred Bs.

Thanks for the replies. The stepping is: AIUHB0247UPDW. Right now I am at 10.5 x 215 with 1.8 vcore. I can do 2.3 but I have to pump up the vcore to 1.85 to do it. I don't want to fry this thing. I have a water-cooled system and the temps are around 33 to 35C under load.

33 to 35C are OK temps, my CPus run in the mid to high 50s all the time and the rig is rock solid :)
