Hi all,

first off, a big hi again to everyone i have been away from the forum for a couple of months catching up on my life, i seemed to have let it slip for a bit, i noticed that the memberships have hit the roof!!

Anyway, just about to go an buy a T-Bird 1.2 ghz chip, i wanted to see what experience people have had with different numbers??? This will be on a KT7-A Raid board.

Anyone recommend the good ones and ones to stay clear of.

Cheers. :)

I've attached a reference to another topic:

puter show codes (http://forums.overclockers.ws/forums/UltraBoard.cgi?action=Read&BID=2&TID=25010)

That should help you out!

I got one yesterday, it was factory unlocked and the
code was AXIA"9". I have heard good things about it.
I just have to mess around with it some more.

I don't see how you can have a choice of part number to get when purchasing a CPU. Unless you go to place where you can specify which part you want. But those are usually really expensive. Wouldn't you have take what the vendor ships you? Anyways, I got a 1.2 Ghz (retail). It wouldn't even go higher then 1360, no matter what I do, short of extreme cooling. I use the Globalwin CAK38. I let it run at 1360 overnight running MPEG4 decoding and in the morning, my system was hung. It would not boot after that, until I lower the CPU speed. It wouldn't run even stable after I reset it back to 1200 MHz. I am positive I've damaged it. Luckily, I was able to get a replacement. I am still waiting for them to ship me a new one.

That's the good thing about getting retail. I got lucky
I went to my local computer store and they had me
write down what I wanted, plus the code. They had
everyone I wrote down, so I went with the AXIA 1.2
266.

AXIA & AVIA "Y" CPUs will often hit 1500 Mhz. "9" CPUs don't generally do as well and seem to top out in the low 1400's. Check the CPU database at this site. If shopping for a new CPU I would definitely skip the "9" and get a "Y". I gambled on mine (bought it blind) and got an AVIA-9. Good but not the best.
