Seems about right. I get about 5000 with my 9700 pro at stock (325/310) settings.

5k marks is amazing! I thought 9700s do like 4200 or something

With my 9500, which partialy mods to a 9700, I get over 5300. Thats at 380/270. I dont oc the ram because I figure with the 256bit bus its fast enough, plus I dont run AA, plus im too lazy to put on the ramsinks sitting on my desk. Also, I have a cheap($20) waterblock on my 9500, but the dude I bought it from said he could do almost that on stock cooling anyway.

i got it up to 460/300 and got like 5500 something

whenever i open the .3dr file it just starts testing istead of showing my score so i dont know the exact score

Yes, at stock. The 9800pro and 9700pro are pretty close in performance.

no, 9800PRO's are in the 6 thousand range, w/ many hitting over 7k....

If you look around, you'll find that 5500-5800 is about average for a stock 9800Pro (depending on processor). Overclocking is what puts the 9800s over the 6k and into the 7k mark.

one more question - when you are overclocking - is a sign in a game when its really boggy that its clocked too high? Cuz in rtcw:et i play that game soley atm and it gets boggy and the frames are great but i think its lag. but i thought in that game when lag occurs that it shows "connection interrupted" sign. or maybe thats just when it gets real bad...

I've heard of cases where stuff can get bogged down when a core clock is too high. You'd have to determine if this was the case off-line of course.

It is possible to overclock your card too far, so that it starts to run slower (due to computation errors that don't manifest themselves as artifacts), but I'm not sure if this "bogging" down your describing is because of the video card. It IS however, easy to test, just back the card down a good amount and see if things clear up. If they do, the work your way up until things start to go south.
