i gota 700Duron 1year ago since then i unlocked the multiplyer and put it to 9.5 and bumped up the fsb so i gota total max of 969MHz... i have read alot of other ppl geting a 600 Duron to 1100Mhz so i would like to know how i can pass the 1Ghz mark.

On reg specs i can only get the bus to get to 110/220 but i need to get to 133/266 i think my problem is the PCI clock its at 3:1 and i need it to change to 4:1 .... i have Asus A7V rev. 1.01.. pls tell me if this is the right way to get to 1Ghz and beyond.. i am like everyone else i want to get the most Preformence outa AMD processors...... Any help i greatly welcomed

Not bad! You're already over the 948MHz average for that CPU.

Now on to your limiting factors. The A7V is one of the first generation socket A motherboards. All of which are saddled with the first generation KT133 chipset that didn't "officially" support the 133MHz FSB. Although the manual and the BIOS shows higher available settings, not many have had success much above the 107 / 110MHz range. With the advent of the "C" chips (266FSB), VIA reworked the KT133 chipset to provide the user with FSB's at or above 133MHz, some have been reported to go to 150 and beyond.

Of course you have to follow the standard overclocking procedures in regards to providing good cooling to the CPU, quality RAM and peripherals etc.

Another thing is, you may want to provide a better cooling solution for the northbridge. Some have reported that using a Blue Orb on that chipset will help you eek a few more MHz out of it.

Other than that, the most logical sollution could well be a new motherboard with one of the newer chipsets. The upside of this would be a viable upgrade path in the future, keeping in mind that it is doubtful that your present board will be able to support one of the newer 266 FSB CPU's.

Good Luck!

Research the key to a successful overclocking experience!

also have you briged your L7's so the chip will default 1.85v sometimes they wont post if you up the vcore via the bios due to the bios having to step the voltage after boot. alot of folks end up having to do a voltage mod aswell to get to 2v because sometimes some durons just wont go over 1 gig without higher voltages than are availiable

Well.. i am thinking of buying a new Tbird cpu 133/266 see if it works in my mobo if it doesnt will i still be able to run it at 100/200? and unlock the multi and bump that up to its official speed+ untill i buy a mobo but now i dont have the money to invest in a whole new computer, i am thinking of a 1.2ghz and i am buying an extra 256mb pc133 ram and later on i am planning to replace the mobo and hdd but for now i was tring to get more speed..since 9.5 is the highest multiplyer i can get.....

the vcorevoltage was set Via Jumpers since in the bios it was still having problems at 1.85(bios) but 1.85(JUMPER) was good for some reason. i have Cooler master DP5-5G11 and thats getting realy hot when i get 969 so i had a table top fan goign full blast at the side of my tower realy trying to cool it down.

yo man, AMD will release a 1.7GHz Palomino Athlon which will fit nicely on your board and also give you 1700MHz with 200MHz BUS.
This chip will be out in Feb next year.

Cheers!

All Palomino processors run the processor at a set Multiplier so even thou your Motherboard might not have a 17X multiplier, the processor will override any softfsb setting and give 17X, unless the multiplier is set to 12X or lower. Then, you can run the chip at 1200 since the motherboard officially supports 12X

Cheers

I see it has 12.5 is it called SoftFsb becuase this is the physical jumper on the mobo.

I kinda need some power now and in February its goign to cost an arm and a leg for that cpu... i am looking for 1.2ghz Tbird since there fairly cheep compared to the 1.4ghz and i am not going to fall into the same trap that i did 1 year ago when i bought this cpu...if u get the Top of the line which was 700duron i paid 260CDN and i think the 650 was 180aprox i dident know that they both could reach 950mhz if i have known i would have saved myself the cash...thats why i wana get something a few speeds down with some good head room to overclock when i get my new mobo.. but 266 should still work in my comp even if i have to make it run at 200 and crank up the multiplyer?
