I finally found the article I was looking for with real world benchmarks (besides the worthless sisoft bandwidth benchmark) that shows an example of 5/4 tight timings vs 1/1 with loose timings.

This article is almost on my exact system. I had been thinking about going to the DDR500 to get my 1/1 but for my system (5/4 250/200 2-2-2-5), it would be a complete waste of time and money. Now if the day ever comes when DDR500 can run 2-2-2-5, then I'll be interested again.
