Driver versions and 3Dmark results

Just did a compare and most of the guys around my 3Dmarks are using

Driver Version:

6.14.01.6292

And i am on 6.14.10.6396 (3.9's).

Is there a reason, do older cats benchmark better?

It could simply be that that is the driver that was current when they ran their bench.

But, it is true that there are differences in 3DMark scoring between driver sets. Add to that OS's Alot of guys swear by Win2000.

I have seen some driver benchmarks that were prior to the Cat3.8's and among them the Cat 3.5's were the best. But the differences were minimal, so it is really not necessary to change unless you want to bench for the top score you card/system can do. Or they fix some issue that is relevant.
