View Full Version : 1st time over 2.00 volt v-core!!

Well my first time daring the 2.00 volt v-core had some promising results. At 2.05 my computer posted at 1620mhz (12x135mhz) but at 55c!! idle. I lowered it back down until better cooling comes along. PS, I did have my spare CPU handy for for any problems. It is powering down as I type on my old Duron. I will hope to hit 1.7 on this little AVIA!!

pheww.... you're braver than I am atm.... I haven't broken the 2v point because of poor cooling and high ambient temps (it's really hot where I live)

besides that, nice OC!

Can you say " I've been to the DANGER Zone" ? Gutsy move TranceBear, akin to me lapping my coppermine even after killing the first one I lapped. Or was that just stupidity (mine)? That was a rhetorical question BTW! You got the spirit.

nice o/c...wish i had enough testiculars to try over 2, but my FOP i don't think would like it that much...well again nice o/c, seems like a race to 2gigs

Well it is not offical till I get better cooling. I had to come back to reality for melting sake. I am just happy that this little AVIA can handle it. I get real scared with anything higher than 55c temp wise. I am doing some more mods and I bought a room A/C unit just for my case. It will blow directly into the front. If my temps stay low I will see 1.7ghz, I can taste it!!

Thanks, I am lucky for living on the waterfront in Seattle, WA. It hardly ever gets above 75F. I count my blessings.

Welcome to the 2V+ club :D

Thanks, this voltage mod I did will allow me 2.27 max v-core, I am hesitant about doing watercooling cause I breed German Shepard puppies and I could just see the critters chewing up a line or hose. I will do the A/C mod and see if I can get to 1.7, heck maybe even 1.8. I AM a dreamer!! Right now my CPU temp is 22c and case is 17c cause the window is open and it is 58f outside, maybe I might try more tonight. But those days are far in between.

Nice temps - wish I had ambient as low as that :)

I generally run between 48-51C load at 2.32V, depending on the air temp in the room. I'm working on a new cooling system in a new case right now, and I'll probably get a new mobo to go with it, so this volt mod will be history. It's being a right pain, keeps dropping to 1.94V - think I must have a bad connection somewhere. I resoldered it last night, but it just dropped again. Oh well, maybe I'll get the Epox 8K7A+, 2.1V without a volt mod - oh yeah! :D

Mind you these temps are only tempoary. During the day my temps are like in my sig.

Welcome to the club of the daring. I was scared after raising above the 1.9v mark but when I hit 2.050v, I was like, thats gonna be it. Besides, any voltage behond 2v will greatly put the cpu in greater danger! If your CPU really is running at 2volts, your MHz hehond the magical 1.6GHz mark and your temperature is under 60c using air, I congraduate you and give you the best of luck with your o/c.

ps, adding more case fans will help out alot when you hit 2volts, it helps the cpu out alot by circulating out even the least bit of heat that may be traped. Have you experimented with a 80mm fan and try cranking up the voltage on it?? I use a powersupply to regulate the voltage on my fan.

I have a Sunon 80mm fan which I bought for $10CAN at my local store and then I hooked it up to a regulated powersupply my dad gave me. The fan now uses 3watts of power, comparing to the 1.4w it was rated for! I know, the fan will eventually burn out but my dad says it should last at least 8 months! Anyhow, good luck!

5000rpm before, 100##rpms now! :)

ohya, I had an AXIAR Y 1GHz processor that hit 1666MHz stable with 2volts. You shouldnt be too far off.

Nice OC tracebear. I got 3 CPUs to choose from to see which 1 will overclock best . I can get my 1.4 to post at 1.8 but it won't let me boot into windows instead anything above 1.53 I get colors on my screen b4 It goes to boot to windows. I think I better set up my BE COOLING AquaStealth 2 Watercooling kit its not the greatest but better then air cooling. My ambient temp is 86f = ( very hot here in NYC, Staten Island.

LOL, and to think my 10k 80mm fan was enough, I now got a 150mm fan with a 8000rpm rating!!! I gonna mod it tomorrow first thing and let everyone know how well it works! I got the pictures below for you to enjoy.

DA BEAST!

next up, the second pic!, may I note that the bearings on this fan are MASSIVE! and this allows for those high rpms. Note in the pic below how the fan uses 7w of power. Pretty low for my ratings, I'm plannin on running the fan at 10watts to increase rpms even more!

One last one, Trancebear, if you want to try something crazy, mod a 60mm or 80mm fan to a power adapter like this one. For the one I got here, I would attach two 80mm fans to it. Thats still 2.5watts per 80mm fan and that should boost cooling performance alot.

ENJOY!

LOL 87F hot? Here in Utah, it was 103F the other day. Makes it real hard to cool a computer down.

*That wasn't supposed to sound rude, sorry if it does.

the maximum temp reached in where i live is 33C..........
so hot....so i had to turn the a/c to max in order to have my comp runnin o/ced

Hey TranceBear today I just broke the 2.3v barrier trying for 1200mhz out of my 600 duron. It booted to windows but crashed instantly. Lots of voltage is ok just as long as you can keep it cool.
