Im considering a major system upgrade, and was wondering what you guys think of it. If if do this it would be a 1ghz 266 bus t-bird, an Epox 8k7a, and 256mb of crucial ram. After selling part of the system in my sig, i would end up paying about $150. Just wondering if theres anything else i havent heard of coming soon that would be better, and would the performance gains really be worth it, assuming i can get a decent overclock out of the t-bird. So, any thoughts, comments, or improvements.

Upgrade its better for the economy. And its just plain fun!
Sounds good but why upgrade the motherboard? The cpu will give you the best bang for the buck.

I think going to the 1gig tbird which is probably the best chip for ocing right now, and the new epox board with a 1/5 divider it doesn't seem like you could go wrong! That thing will rock.
Have Fun!

For a net cost of $150 - Why the heck not? :)
Since you're not only moving from a Duron to a Tbird, but to a DDR based system; I think it is a no-brainer. Have fun!
Edit: Hugo, you took the words out of my mouth. ;)

Thats is one nice upgrade.... With DDR and all......
Just got one question, what kind of PSU will you be using with that thing?
As you may also want to upgrade the PSU as well as that CPU (when overclocked) will be sucking in alot of watts......
go for it you only live once.

Go for it! It sounds like it'll be a kickin' system man. And for $150? Why the heck not right? Besides, if you wait then sure new technology will show up eventually, it always does, but it'll cost a whole lot more and the longer you wait the less the parts your selling will be worth. Once something new arrives the value of everything that's out there now plummets, especially when it's already used. =]
Moved thread to "AMD CPU's".

I think my PSU is fine, 350w enermax. I think i will probably go for it, and i hear, not sure though, that AMD will be cutting prices AGAIN soon. We'l see.
