Hi guys, I need some help and some suggestions.

I currently have the Max3 3.0C @ 3.85 and 1GB of Kingston DDR443, Vapo PE.

Probs:
Max3 sucks, V fluctuations, FSB stability messed up, crappy BIOS....and Abit Support sucks too.

I have a friend in the US who can get me the following..

I dont game much, but I need a machine who can run 24/7 with the IIS6 and fold like a mad cow. I really want the XEON. But I am not sure. The A64 sucks in my opinion. The only A64 which is awsome is the Opteron, but that gets beaten by a quad xeon.

So guys any help please.........

Seious ly if you dont do video rendering and games. Go for dual AthlonXP, those AthlonXps can fold like mad cow. Save some money and get yourself a nice Sata Raid setup.

Just my 2 cent,

MameXP is right. As far as cost per WU, you can't be AMD Athlons for raw folding power.

I'm not saying this is the best solution for everything you do, but it definitely is, for folding purposes.

While the Dual MP dont fold near as fast as the dual xeons, they are cheaper (and even more so if you get XP's and mod them) for the best bang for your buck right now i would go with a dual MP/XP 2800 with half a gig of ram. It will be alot cheaper then a dual 3.0ghz xeon and will fold almost as fast.

Intel is still the speed king (dont know if the a64 or a64fx has it beat yet) but AMD is kicking ass in bang per buck. The only draw back of the AMD MP setup is that it looks like it is about at the end of its life, i dont know how much longer AMD will keep making/supporting the MP line, with the Opteron out there.

but i may be wrong, i doubt it but i might be.
