just ordered from newegg refurbd for 160. dunno the ram speed though. I know it is very much underclocked from other 9700np's, but I am jsut looking for a similar overclock from the card in my sig. the only review site that mentioned this particular card claimed an overclock to 640 mem despite getting 3.6ns ram or therebouts. how did they get that while my old card had 3.0ns infineon and could only do 600-620 stable?
anyone has this card and can tell me their ram type? i could get the same sapphire for $150 likely with the 3.0ns but the softmod is unguaranteed.

no - i havent received the card yet. I am jsut trying to plan aheadin case it turns out to have crappy ram
Hah, I just went through the exact same process as you Tronik. Saw the refurb powercolor 9700np gold at newegg and had to grab it. Did you cancel your order by any chance? Anyways, I looked up the card and found a review (http://www.dukgamers.com/reviews/PowercolorR9700/PowercolorR9700_5.shtml) where they oced it to 330/630 and it has 3.6ns hynix ram chips also. I also read an old thread on the forum where someone got the same card clocked at 324/297 default. Hopefully the one I get get has similar results :D

yeah that was my card, nice catch! I dropped it in faveor of a sapphire 9800 pro oem refurb'd for $220. Supposedly sammy 2.8ns. One review site claimed 375/740 or so on stock cooling. I will be volt modding the gpu, using my radeon WB, and sinking the ram. Can't wait.
I emailed powercolor and they finally got back to me saying that they use the infineon 3.3ns chips. I had those in my departed 9500, and they only did 620 stable with ramsinks and as3. So how on eaerth do hynix 3.6ns chips get to 640? seemed like a bit of fuzzy logic to me. still, you got all 8 pipes and 256mem interface for the same price as just a shot at teh softmod. I got a card that just may do north of 500/700. I'd say we both come out rosy.
Thanks for dropping the card :D! I already have a 9600xt in the works and was ready to pick it up tomorrow from allstarmicro for about the same price as this 9700. Even if it doesn't clock to a pro I'll still be satisfied about the deal. Good thing I browsed newegg today.
