How would you remove a hsf from a cpu? (They are stuck together with ALOT of thermal paste!)
which CPU and HSF is this? how is the heatsink attached to the motherboard? socket lugs or stands?
do you mean you used thermal epoxy? thermal paste shouldn't stick the HSF to the CPU..

Its the old p100 in my sig... I dunno whats holding it on, as im the 2nd owner of the thing. All I know is when I lifted the holding arm off, and took the hsf off, the cpu came with it.

Just so you know, this thing has been stuck like this for about 7 years without being seperated. Would that have anything to do with it?

Most heatsinks back then were glued on with some thermal adhesive to the CPU. I have a bunch of old computers with the heatsinks glued/stuck to the CPU. I don't know if the freezer trick works on these. Sometimes, even if standard thermal gel/paste is used, after a long time the CPU and heatsink can become bonded. Try applying more pressure/force when you pull it off but not to much. Good luck

Yea you could. Its stuck with a sticky thermal pad. Pop it in the freezer, then use a flathead screwdriver to pry it apart.
