So i had my friend gimme his even older 486 Compaq, wich i intended to replace the mobo for a Socket 370 one with integrated grapphics.. And as the darn Compaq is a CDS 522 it is one of those with integrated monitor. Great, Um, now... how would i find out what pinconfig there is in the monitor cable, i tried mailing Compaq, no reply.. anyone else just "happends" to know?
Happy for ideas.

hmm having trouble searching for it considering a "CDS 522" also seems to be a model of tape deck for cars :p Ill keep looking for ya though

try "Presario 500 Series" for reverences, if you think it helps, renders me the "motherboard" to bad the daughter board is the one with the Graphics connector on..

ok ill try looking for that.. here's something funny i came across just now http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Tv_monitor_schematic_tips/ :)
here is generic pinouts for VGA, but this is a proprietary one right? http://www.ati.com/support/connectors/pinouts/pinoutsforvga.html (like most compaqs
*edit* is there a model number on the monitor itself? it would make it easier to find
*edit2* I hate it when the desc for a webpage is english but the page is not.. its quite irritating

-EDIT-
Oh, and no, the standard VGA pinout wont do no good, the integrated video cable is completly different.

can you open the housing and get at the cable? some integrated monitors may use their own pin config since its not designed to be used with anything else.

i have absolutly no clue, dont have much exp with electricity (weve never gotten along too well ) but it probably will since if that PC is old it may use lead solders and lead solders are now illegal so it may make a small diff but mostly in longevity f anything id imagine.

i bet i could get a response off Compaq, if i had a valid Compaq serial :- )) As is now, there IS no serial of the kind they wanted (format is wrong on this old 486, no wonder why : -)
Oh well

There is a FCC ID on the "cpu tray" however im not sure if its only for the cpu tray, or the entier unit.
Anyway:
