If i took a can of cobalt/blue spray paint, took everything outof my case, and turned the inside blue, would i get the same effect as others with the inside of their case painted? if not, how does one get that effect?

You lost me....what "effect" are you talking about?????
i think he meant the same affect you get when painting the outside of the case yourself
yes, i think it should work.
well yeah i believe if you had it lighted well..
Painting the inside of a case can really improve it's looks, I'm not quite done my setup but once I'm relatively satisified with things I'll get hold of a digital camera and put up pics of both my interior and exterior. I can say that compared to just plain metalic silver/grey a colored case interior looks much, much better. Just to describe things my case frame is yellow, the motherboard tray, outer sleeve (it's got a sleeve, not side panels and top piece) and the back plate that the slot tins screw into to hold PCI cards in place are black. The slot tins (both blank and for my cards) are yellow and from the back I've got a kind of bumble bee look going on. Maybe I will put up a shot or two of the work in progress, I just need to get hold of a digicam.....

yeah I decided to paint my interior because after doing all that hardwork on the outside the inside just looked way to boring with the standard grey.

make sure you clean it really well. That bare steel had an oily coating on it in my case that caused my first coat of paint to not stick at ALL (it was coming off in sheets). The BEST way to do it would be to sand-blast it, but of course most people dont have access to that kind of thing.

Another thing is to have patience. More than likely, you're going to miss painting some part of the inside. You'll be tempted to try and coat where you missed, to try and get a full coat all in one shot. DON'T do it. Let it dry and then hit it with a second coat. Trying to coat the entire inside all in one shot usually leads to putting too much paint on, which only turns into runs.

And clear coat it too. That will give it a nice shine and help protect it better.

To do it right you gotta take the whole thing apart - rivet by rivet, then paint each piece separately. Prime it, paint it and clearcoat it(if you want a glossy finish). I just did this to my case and it looks really nice (I'll post pics when it's fully complete).
If you just whack it with a spraycan without takin it apart you can't help but miss spots and get runs and rough spots in the paint (I know coz that's what I did the first time).
Also if you plan to light the case make sure the colours are complementry. I.e. Blue paint => blue lights. I did my interior paint red, then put some red ccs in and it makes the paint really brighten up and help light the case. I tested with blue lights on red paint and the paint looks sort of black because of the (insert scientific term here) concentrated(single) colour absorbtion thingy. Blue on blue rocked tho.

Clearcoat it no matter what. You can get both glossy clearcoats and Matte clearcoats (gives you a flat look). It will protect the paint job and is well worth the effort in the long run.

painting insides = good
its one of those details that some people miss, maybe because they dont want to bother, or they just dont care
it makes a case look so much better, when you're showing it off - kinda like the interior of a car :)
