View Full Version : Best VGA Heatpipe?
What do you think is the best VGA heatpipe?
Zalman or ThermalTake? (or any other weird brands)

I believe the Zalman does very well. I have the first revision on my TI4800SE and it does a better job removing heat than my stock cooler.
If you buy the newest Zalman, you have the option to add a 80mm fan that will blow across the heatpipe which will really help cool down the top heatsink.

how much are those zalman heatpipes im guessing in the upper 20s or 30s..thats pretty expensive...i would just go w/ taking a stock AMD athlon or athlon xp and just glue it on...prolly cools better than a heatpipe too...but takes up a few pci slots :) anyways, i would use arctic slumina thermal epoxy to glue it on and...yea..a better way than using an expensive vga card cooler

dose the zalman heatpipe and Thermaltake Giant II cool the VGA memory?

hmm... you can't get that off, and tere is a risk of thering the AGP slot of the mobo.
Removeing the stock heatsink voids the warrenty, but do they have a way to check if it's been removed?

Most don't bother checking for removal of the stock heatsink but you never know.
The Zalmans do not cover any of the ram.

the zalman doesn't cool the ram chips, i'm pretty sure the thermaltake doesn't either, but memory cooling is pointless since you don't get more than 2 to 3 mhz more oc at best -- usually none as a matter of fact, not worth the money and trouble to cool ram chips except for the look if you have a window, "cooling" can make it look cool ;)

:DLOL!!!:D
does the cooler have to be a heatpipe?
i hear this is pretty good

Cooling ram chips aren't pointless. I get a nice 30mhz increase on mine using stock cooling. Then again depends on what your using to cooling too. Some people have gottne ram over 100mhz oc, and some get nice oc's without heatsinks. All depends. I'd rather have a heatsink on it to make sure it doesn't fry.

don't know that might be BS, is the 9800Pro really 79.6°C?

dude, just go w/ gluing a big enuff heatsink, like an athlon xp stock cooler on ur gpu (with arctic alumina epoxy), and if u REALLY want to, glue some ramsinks on

just because you put cooling on your ram doesn't mean they're doing more because of it, you might have just burned it in, or just been pretending minor artifacts aren't there because you put cooling on it
your head can play tricks on you, beware of it
the only way ram can do more oc is with additional voltage, in which case cooling may prolong it's life

what do u mean by u can't get "that" off? do u mean the stock hs on the video card? and if it is removed, u can always glue it back in place
plus, almost everything we DO around voids w/e manufacturer we bought the product from...LOL and how can u say putting hs on a video card can tear the agp slot off of the mobo? thats a bit far-fetched IMO, i have a stock amd 900 athlon heatsink glued to my card in my sig and the agp slot seems to be holding up fine..and besides. not much pressure is abeing put on the agp slot, its mostly being put on the agp metal bracket (where u screw it in) and the video card itself, as long as the hsf is not super heavy, its not tearing anything out of where it is supposed to be
