Is it just me, or is it impossible to find let alone purchase an EE? I can't believe they say it is in their product line when it isn't even available for sale. Companies releasing unobtainable products just ****es me off. I know they can't just admit they're having Prescott problems, but give me a break...

No, I'm not complaining because I have an AMD system. I actually want to go Intel, but when they release this nonexistant EE garbage just to justify the continued high prices of their existing line, I get upset.

It does exist, but so far most of the production has been to fill OEM contract orders. Actually, prices of the existing line of CPUs were dropped on Oct. 26 when the 3.2 EE was introduced.

I understand what you're saying, but I think you should be mad at the stores not carrying them not at intel. I'm sure Intel has enough to go around, the problem is when a CPU cost $995 very few companies are going to stock it due to it's high price, I don't blame them.

Companies most of the time get a 70% off of retail... So you do the numbers... that is why it is cheaper for them to offer it to you as a simple upgrade..

Check out ebay.. I saw a guy selling the 3.2GHz EE one for 300 bucks or soemthing more...

I'm interested, but I don't want to be the guinea pig. If the sucker will OC w/ it's 2mb on board I might be interested, but if it's already pushed to it's envelope, I think I'll wait. I want to hear some hands on experience.

There is no WAY it will oc more than 200mhz with air cooling...Just take alook at the 64 bit AMD's with 1mb cache....the max oc on air was 200mhz roflmao!!!

The P4EE is available, albeit in small quantities and very expensive - the last time I saw one it was $1100.

I heard the EE's don't overclock that well... possibly something to do w/ the size of the L2 cache? Not sure, just heard somewhere that they can't get as high a fsb as the Northwoods. Aren't the EE's based off of Xeon architecture???

For some reason the idea of looking on ebay completely escaped me.

I guess I was being a bit harsh, but I really wish it was widely available, and thus would have pushed prices down farther, say, as far as a normal drop when a new CPU is released.

They can OC quite well... fuggers got one running over 4Ghz (with a Cascade faze change)

The xeon and P4 architecture is virtually the same - they're just offering xeon cores in a socket 478 package with a different multiplier. Overclocking is likely to be a little more challenging due to extra heat, consumption, and everything associated with having a much larger transistor count on die.

No, the real joke is the fact that Newegg sold out of the retail boxed EE's, even though they were priced at $1045! THere's a sucker born every minute...

LOL, if it wasn't for the P4EE then we wouldn't have the 2.4C M0 Steppings. So I don't care if I could get hold of a P4EE I'm happy with the cheap 2.4C doing 3.4ghz.

roflmao

Also, do they know that their motherboards are being pushed through the floor? EEs draw a huge amount of power.

No?

And I suppose that 2.37GHz barton @ 1.8v is running on a watch battery?

I did the math and that processor at that speed is running 100w.
