I was at Micro Center buying some fan grills the other day when (I swear to you that this is true) the mother of all nerds who apparently worked there came up and started talking to me. Told me he's got a 8K7A and a Thermalright SK6 running an AXIA Y 1.3 GHz chip at 1.6 GHz. I told him about my setup (this was before I got my AXIA Y Tbird 1 GHz), that I had a Duron 700 that I could get to 954 and that I wanted badly to hit a GHz with it, but I didnt want to vmod my board. He told me to pencil the L7's in - these are the default voltage bridges, right? He said that once I did that, and set my voltage to max (1.85 on KT7A-R) that I would get a touch of extra voltage out of it, hopefully enough to nail 1 GHz.

Has anyone tried this? does it work? Since I've got my TBird now I have less inhibitions about pushing my processor over the edge. I penciled the L7's and I'm thinking about popping it in tonight and giving it a go. I don't believe temps were ever a problem - I've got an FOP32 (try to hold back your snickering) with the YS Tech fan and I've also got a 37 CFM Sunon mounted on the case side directly over the processor blowing fresh air down onto the HSF. My in-socket thermistor temps have been keeping my processor idling 2 or 3 C above case temp, so it seems everything is running cool enough.

Makes me wish Abit had just given me that extra .05 volts adjustment for the Vcore.

Yup, i have....my a7a266 only went to 1.8v ( in reality only set to 1.775) and i took advice, and did the l7 bridges. Boom turn on...1.85v (it said 1.85v in the bios, but was really set @ 1.888v). Went to 990 stable, burned in, and now im @ 1012! I can't wait until i do my voltage mod to my A7A266, that why i can get around 2v and pump her up to 1080+.

Trust me....it works!

I have a 800duron,1.2,1.33 axia's all have the L7 bridges closed .Before bios takes over 1.85 is what it see's

I penciled in my L7's on my Duron and popped it in... I was getting a 1.93 volts vcore reading in MBM and VIAhm (I should have popped it in w/o the bridges pencilied first to see what kind of vcore readings I was getting). I was able to push it up to about 970 MHz before I started getting errors. I'm going to burn it in at the higher voltage. I'm still getting peak temps in the 40 C range, so I cant imagine that cooling is a very big issue, but seeing as I need better cooling for my TBird 1 GHz I'm going to be getting an SK6 or a MC462A anyway. Well, it does seem that this trick works... I'm jus a little disappointed that it didn't buy me that extra 46 MHz I wanted.
