9600NP 256MB vs. 9600Pro 128MB

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who is building a new system for christmas, he wants to know which would deliever the best performance for his dollar, I don't know much about this card, but i'll refer any questions here to him, thanks.

9600 Pro 128 MB will out perform a 9600 NP 256 MB.

There is no game out there that will use 256mb. More ram does not mean faster. If fact, the additional "useless" ram will slow your game down.

IIRC the memory frequenzy for the 256 was half the speed of the 128, thus making it slower.
