View Full Version : newbie Axia question
I've just built a new system with a 1Ghz Axia at its heart. The Axia is has a "B" at the end of the first line on the core. I believe that this denotes a FSB of 200mhz. If so, how come it will run happily (after unlocking the L1 bridges)when I up the FSB to 133? The most I have had out of it is 1400Mhz (10.5 x 133) but it was slighly unstable, however it is fine at 1333Mhz (10 x 133). System spec is:-
Abit KT7A
1Ghz Axia Athlon
256Mb RAM
GeFoece2 GTS
I'm happy with my system but the FSB thing is doing my head in.

The 200 mhz FSB refers to the internal speed of the CPU and is a double pumped FSB ( 2 x 100 ) likewise the 266 CPU is also double a pumped FSB internally ( 2 x 133 )
hope this clears up the FSB thing

...There is no intrinsic difference in, say, a 1gig AXIA, either a 200 or 266, from the same week of manufacture. They would have the same cores, but are set up to run at different FSB and Multiplier to hit that given speed. This means that with an unlocked processor, again, either 200 or 266, you can select your own setup. Possibly someone that is hip to processor manufacturing can elaborate on this.

I run my little 1 gigger the same way, keep it going!! It won't hurt it if you have good cooling, watch the temps!!
