Hello all.
I just put in an Athlon 1gig/266 (AVIAR"Y") and have been slowly increasing till I am at 1339(12.5*107)
Temp has moved up as well and now at 50c via MBM5 .
I have an Enermax LCD temp probe that I put on the ceramic with 2-way tape before applying the HSF(a Taisol all-alum w/26cpm fan)and made sure it was touching the edge of the core with some AS2 at the junction.
Previously, when I installed the LCD probe I would slide it in between the HSF and CPU after the HSF was installed, making sure with a small mirror that it was indead placed correctly.
Previously I would get about a 6 degree difference between MBM5 and the LCD, the LCD being lower.
Now however, the temp readings are about the same, only about 1 degree difference.
BTW, I was also getting the 6 degree difference when I first installed the new CPU. The change has been since I fastened the probe with the tape prior to the HSF being installed.
Whew..
If this makes any sense to anyone, what do you think could account for the change in readings?
I'll try to create a picture of the LCD placement and post it later.
