I know this sounds stupid, but can fans that you can plug into your mobo be requlated in speeds? (other than CPU fan)

How much do the fan grates with foam filters slow air movement and/or effect sound emitions?

I prefer to wire my CPU fan to the PSU or a fan conroller.
For answer to 2nd Q.,check this out. THE FANMAN:cool:MOD LINK (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=245723)

If you want to learn you have to ask questions.
Have I answered your Q's to your satisfaction?

Fan filters don't really affect airflow enough to make an appreciable difference(assuming that you clean them on a regular basis), and to me are well worth the effort.

You can regulate the speed of any fan, but mobo fan headers are somewhat notorius for burning out, particularly with higher-watt fans, so, I'd second archilochus as to a fan controller or fanbus.

but some fan fiters to completely kill airflow. i know the foam ones are ok, but some are horrible. the best filter is a cut up air filter for an airconditioner or something.

ok, what about sound?

Will the foam filters create sound or kill it or do nothing at all?

i don't think it would do much.... maybe a little quieter, but prolly not louder
