I just fired up my rig one day, and it froze. This was after i reseated my heatsink. I reformatted and reinstalled....ALL IS GOOD.
I took off my heatsink, and checked and the core is chipped on all 4 sides! I am soo happy it still works! I almost crapped myself LoL!
I thought i had to add this chip to my list of killed chips....(3 so far...a P2 300 @375 150X2.5, a Celeron 600 @ 1ghz 2v, a cyrix 3 samuel 600 @ 880. Not to mention a 32mb DDR Radeon LoL)
WHEW!!!
I had a similar problem, but mine only chipped on one side. It worked, but not at overclocked speeds and soon enough it wouldnt even run at 500 Mhz and I had to junk it. I wish you luck, but I dont think it will last very long.

i "had" a chipped duron 750 that worked fine at o/c speed but after reinstalling the heatsink a couple of times all the corners and the sides "fell off/cracked"..........and nothing works now.....

You can crack thew sides off and 75% of the time they live, but goto IPKonfig at the moment and see the chips they've smashed !!!!
When I cracked my "previous" T-bird it splooged some kind of oil/grease looking crap from the core onto my heatsink that stunk like burnt popcorn. Needless to say, that sucker DID NOT boot anymore :)

One of my friends has a CPU with a core that looks rougher than my ex-girlfriend and it still works, I guess its all luck of the draw.

my chipped duron would run, but it was unstable and could only run at 500mhz. The thing corrupted my whole harddrive, so i was pretty mad, the proc died the next day.

I got a 1.33 t-bird and a galaciator. I haven't had any problems with putting it on, so I hope it doesn't crack. Does the chip crack just because you seat the hsf wrong?

Few shots of my working TB750 and the FOP32 w/ 1/8th inch copper coldplate attached to the bottom that caused the damage.
