I'd say upgrade to a 9800Pro, because it will take some time for all the new PCI-X mobos to come out, and even then they do, they won't be quite as mature as most people would like (unless you like being on the bleeding edge). As for the R400, a 9800Pro right now will have a good deal of longevity, just like your ti4600 did (or does ;)). I upgraded to a 9800 a month ago, even though sometime later next year I'll be building an entirely new comp. Your 4600 still has a decent amount of resale value left in it, so sell it to offset the cost of a spankin' new 9800.

Dont buy a new card now if your upgrading in a year, due to the fact that pci express will be replacing agp starting next year. By that time, whatever card you buy now iwll be pretty much worthless, and who knows whether or not there will be an agp/pci express adapter.

$10 says that in a year there will still be an AGP and mostly PCI ports on a mobo (with one or two PCI Express ports) ;)
