View Full Version : Which Radeon Overclocking Utility do you use?

I know that there are several out there - two of which I have tried.
I have tried out Rage3D Tweaker, and RADClocker which I am currently using due to it's giving me better stable overclocking results, and not messing around with my display settings.
Which ones are standard use for overclocking ATI Cards? I am wondering, from firsthand experience, which overclocking utility is deemed the best for stability, and simplicity.
I use the one that comes with Omega3.7s. I think it is RADClocker. Works great and is easy to use.
I've used Powerstrip (IMHO the best video card/display tweak util ever... though has a really annoying nag screen unless you buy it) and RivaTuner (has some nice basic options, and gets the OCing done with minimal fuss).

Rage 3d here also.
Rage3D Tweak
but once i found my "ideal clocks", i put it in the BIOS so i didnt have extra programs running
I wish I could use rage3D Tweak...it's my favorite. But the 3.9v is not compatible with my 9800 XT. I am using Rad Clocker right now but do not like the fact that it bumps the mhz by 2 -3nhz when I move the slider.

I thought there was a version 3.9b that recognizes the XT
Rage tweaker. I dont know much about the other ones available, but rage tweak is so nicely integrated into the ati control panel to make it feel like its MEANT to be there. makes me happy.

Rage 3D, very easy to go from 339/606 (underclocked) to 410/720... I haven't tested any higher than that because this thing heats up like mad!
I use Rage 3d too.
One thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't keep the o/c after a reboot. There must be something I'm missing.

Booby (yeah I know, but I like boobies better!), if you go under "game util" in the tweaker, you can set "apply OC at boot" and that might be what you're missing.

I'm a Rivatuner guy, probably from when I used it to oc my GF3, GF4 and earlier used it to do the softmod "patch" on my old 9500np (RIP :( )

I like boobies too but I'm not one :p :D
Yep, that's already checked. I poked around and set the default profile under "Overclock" to the settings I want. (425/375). Haven't rebooted yet though.

I'm using Rage 3D also :D
i use whatever comes with omega.
I use Rage3DTweak. Best one I've used, imo.
I use rivatuner since I had it a while back with my gf3 and I just know how it works. Going to have to try rage 3d considering how much everyone likes it around here.

If your radclocker only adjusts a certain amount, you can get it to adjust to the finest detail if you set the maximum overclock to just over what your maximum is. for instance, if you peak out at 400, set it to 405. This will give the slide rule the finest control possible. It wont be a huge dif, but it might allow you to hit a spot you couldnt before

I'm using Omega 3.9's and Rage3DTweak. Most people like Rage3DTweak better from what I read, what do you think? What about Omega drivers?

Wow, and overwhelming number of people use Rage3D here... I don't know why it doesn't work as well as RADClocker for me - perhaps because I am using the 3.7 Dets?

How do you go about altering the card's BIOS to "auto-clock" on boot?
PMed you.

The only thing I dont like about Rage3d is the annoying splash screen that pops up at startup, is there any way to get rid of that thing. That's the only reason why I switched to Radclocker. I also liked the precision of the Rage3d tweak better, but the spash screen really bugged me.

I enjoy power strip - lets me adjust the latency settings for my video card too, which is helpful.
