Ok heres the deal.

I currently have have a geforce 4 ti 4600 128mb vid card that is dying a slow and painful death. I would like to replace it with and radeon, but I have no clue what card to get. I would like get something better then the geforce4 and under or around the $300 mark if I can. I have tried researching some but came to the realization that I am a total newb at this.

Just looking for any suggestions.

No, they are actually quite far from the same (thus the huge difference in proce). The 9800 Non Pro is a very good card...the best you can get for the money. Whether you can get good overclocks or not, it will be one hell of a card for you

Man those non pro's are hard to track down. So far this is the only one I have been able to find. Anyone know if its decent?

You dont have to go with 9800 you can hit 9700 pro or 9600 pro they are all better than gf 4 ti 4600. I just bought a 9600 pro today and my 3dmark03 score raised from 1700 to 3400. Quite a boost atleast that is what i think

For around the $300 mark, you should be able to get a 9800 PRO. With a Pro, you are going to get an awesome overclocker. With NP, it might be a bit of a gamble on how well the RAM OC's.

I know this is a newb question, but does my motherboard support that? I dont see anywhere stating that support it. Or does it matter?

As long as your motherboard supports 4x or 8x AGP, you are fine with any new card.

Do a search (in titles & descriptions) on eBay for "9800 Samsung"
You can flash the 9800 NP built by ATI w/ Samsung memory chips to the Pro bios then just get some memory heat sinks and some artic silver epoxy to attach them and you’ll have monster performance for <$250.

If you can get a Pro for $285 I would consider that option as well.
