In relation to my other post about the ocz ram which i could go out and get like now, i did some looking around to see what is available at the sub $250 price range for a good 512 mb dual channel kit at pc 3200, cas 2.
Which memory would you buy?

everone seems to recommend the hyperX memory and knowing i can get it from ncix.com for that price would make memory express get it for me too at a similar price me thinks. basicly, if i want this ram, i have to be able to get it locally or its not worth the cost difference of the ocz when shipping costs are added.
I also want to keep in mind that I am looking for best performence from this pricerange, not nessiarily the cheapest that will DO that speed. the memory that will do the tightest timings at 400 mhz seems to be the best bet as i will probably be running 200x10 or 12.

I've had great luck with GeIL and most everyone else I talk to has too. I purchased GeIL PC3200 Value Ram, and got it running @ 456MHZ... Never Been Happier:D

Kingston HyperX PC3000 or Mushkin Black Level 2 PC3200/PC3500 or that OCZ PC3500 EL Platinum.

All others use CH-5 or non-Winbond chips.

i just picked up a paif of ocz EL 3200 platinum. would they be bh or ch-5? my distributer didnt have the dual channel kit, i was tempted to get a single 512 mb pc 3500, but meh, these will do me just fine as i plan to use them im in my shuttle later on. who knows though, the mushkin might be available at a better price then. the pc 3500 lv 2 black at ncix is like $604 for the 1024 mb kit. no arguments that it is the best memory available, but heh. a little pricy and hard to get at.

I tried the Hyper-x and then the Mushkin. I still have the Hyper-x, in my desk drawer.

Avoid OCZ. It's gambling when it comes to oc'ing. You'd be better served with Geil than OCZ. But if you got the $$, go for the kingston or Mushkin.

OCZ PC3200 Platinum uses Winbond CH-5 memory chips.

Got it running at 212 right now with my cpu at 8.5. the performence difference is alright being able to run fsb 200+ and in cas 2. but i dont know heh. its nice enough memory but maybe ill take it back and stick to my micron ****nat. this was kinda a splurge, i didnt need it.
