I am in the process of helping my mom decide whether or not her stock group should sell their Intel stocks away. First of all, they owned the stock when it was at its peak, they are not very good investors lol, they should've sold it. Anyway, I dont know whos gonna win the cpu wars. Intel is coming up with Northwood, IA-64 Architecture, .13 Tualutin, the Xeon processor is scheduled to hit 2 ghz and amd is where??? Amd has nothing spectacular coming out soon, 1533 mhz palomino sometime soon? no .13 micron stuff til the end fo the year. There is an advantage to what they are doing, though. The avg. person doesnt know what .13 micron is and why it is better - so intel could be wasting valuable money.

- P4 is a massive failure by intel
- Intel motherboards and boards for Intel's chips are not selling at all
- Intel is the bigger company, its been around for 30+ years, everybody trusts them (i dont know why, but they do)
-Northwood will probably beat the Palomino until it gets .13 micron and is up to about 1.8+ ghz (If p4 is not at 3 + ghz by then) ---- But does this matter? who is gonna buy a p4 that costs 1000 dollars just for the processor.

Guys, I really need input on this, its greatly appreciated, thanx

i would looking into AMD stocks.....becuase ppl trust Intel but now its starting to go toward AMD it all started with Athlon Slot in 1999 its superior to PIII and Athlon3 is still beating P4 also sledgehammer is on the way....i forget what but somethign is comming in around January 2002 u got Duron going to push higher 1Ghz+ Athlon3 will go up 1.6Ghz+ AMD is realy starting to win over ppl....and the P4 is realy starting to bring them down becuase nobody wants to break there bank for a P4 computer and when northwood comes out u gota get a new MObo and ur stuck to Rdram becuase SD for P4 is just brutal......and nows the time to buy AMD its probly down with the computer stocks everthign is realy low...they might also wana look into Nortel networks there like rockbottem prices compared to july2000 when there sooooooo high so there can allways go up :)

group investing is generally a bad idea lol most people base their investments on hearsay and hopefullness wich seldom has a good turnaround, and not to mention nasdaq hasnt bee doing real well lately, and it is very hard to call, my old man is a day trader and make's roughly 13grand a week on breakouts and trends. seems like tech stocks have been in a slump lately. some people feel as if they have to be doing something with their money at all times wich is generally loosing it, i would just be holding on to mine right now untill things pick up

Intel has made some bad decisions latley.
No nvidia crush chipsets for intel cpus will bite them hard if the crush dosent have to many flaws.
I have read they are now considering a deal with nvidia for crush with future p4's but that wont be for at least a year.
Intels prices are also hurting sales alot.
They may come back but it will take a few years.
They need to change their attitude and listen to what customers want instead of trying to dictate what they need.
